Many mix-ups in plumbing orders come from different names being used on site and at the supplier. This guide lists the most common plumbing fittings and tools used in the Saudi market, with the Arabic trade name and a short description, so you can write your order clearly.
Pipe fittings names

| Nipple | نبل | Short piece threaded at both ends |
| Union | يونيون | Joint that can be undone for maintenance |
| Threaded adaptor | أدابتر | Converts fusion or solvent joints to thread |
| Wye / Y-branch | واي | Angled branch on drainage lines |
| Trap / floor drain | سيفون / مصفاة أرضية | Blocks odours and collects floor water |
Valves
The most common are ball valves (quick shut-off), gate valves (main lines), angle valves (connecting basins, WCs and water heaters) and check valves (prevent backflow). More on our water valves page.
Common plumbing tools
- Pipe wrench: for tightening and loosening threaded joints.
- Pipe cutter: for clean cuts on PPR and PVC pipes.
- PPR welding machine and dies: for heat-fusing PPR pipes and fittings.
- Hacksaw: for cutting larger pipes.
- Tape measure and spirit level: for lengths and falls.
- PTFE tape and sealants: for sealing threaded joints.
